Welcome to my blog! I am a Fine Art student at the University of Chester currently in my final year, as part of one of my modules I have to create a blog and report on my progress throughout the year, so watch this space as there are exciting things to come!

If you would like to find out more please read the module overview below.

'This module brings together students and staff from across the department’s programme disciplines.

It provides you with the opportunity to develop your understanding of the nature of professional practice in a visual arts and design context. Following the module introduction, a series of guest lectures by industry and art and design professionals introduces students to practitioner-oriented career pathways within and beyond the cultural economy concept. The module content focuses on enabling students to critically identify the nature of their practice and its place in the professional work environment. Guest lectures and workshops feature practitioners who are established or establishing a reputation for their work either individually or collaboratively, and for example includes artists, designers, photographers film makers, curators, writers, critics cultural producers and agents.

The module will address a diverse range of subjects, which highlight the professional and ethical issues associated with cultural industry careers and practitioner pathways. The module agenda is also pursued through students working collaboratively in designated working-groups, to coordinate the development of the final year exhibition across the Department of Art & Design. These theoretical and practical activities are guided and supported by teaching staff from across the Department disciplines. The module content recognizes the need for discipline specific professional practice research and development therefore, each programme maintains a distinct input, which is related to specialist areas that will be reflected in the exhibition, blog or portfolio outputs of the students undertaking those programmes.

The specific discipline support is also reflected in the profession review/ interview presentations where students can identify which professional panel they wish to present to in respect of their professional practice ambitions.'
